Macro allows the photographer to zoom in on miniature objects so that it creates a more interesting photo. It will allow the viewer to see things that would normally be overlooked. It is good for a photographer to know about macro because they could use other compositional tricks such as leading lines and rule of thirds to create a nice photo.

Okay... Explain to me why you waited to take Digital Photo 'til your senior year...? Your photos are great! I can't wait to see what you do with Photoshop. Keep up the good work "Megatron." (I don't think I'll ever be able to call you by that name...)
